Coupons

Create discount codes with scopes, limits, and validity windows.

Coupons live under Marketing → Coupons. A coupon is a code that customers enter at checkout to get a discount.

Create a coupon

  1. Select New Coupon.
  2. Generate or enter a coupon code. Codes are exactly 12 characters and are stored in uppercase.
  3. Optionally add a description.
  4. Choose a discount type:
    • Percentage — a percentage off, optionally capped by a maximum discount.
    • Fixed amount — a fixed amount off the order.
    • Free shipping — removes the shipping charge.
  5. Set the discount value.
  6. Choose what the coupon applies to:
    • All items (leave categories and products empty).
    • Specific categories.
    • Specific products.
  7. Set the validity window: a start date and an expiration date.
  8. Set usage limits:
    • Usage limit — total redemptions; leave empty for unlimited.
    • Per-customer limit — redemptions per customer; 0 means unlimited.
    • Minimum order value — subtotal required before the coupon applies.
  9. Set the coupon to Active and save.

The expiration date must be in the future when you create a coupon, and the start date must be before the expiration date. Percentage discounts cannot exceed 100%.

Discount rules

  • Percentage coupons can have a max discount cap. The cap is only available for percentage discounts.
  • Fixed-amount and percentage coupons must have a value of at least 1.
  • Free-shipping coupons ignore the discount value.
  • The minimum order value is compared with the order subtotal.
  • A coupon can be scoped to products, categories, or both. An item qualifies if it is in the product list or in one of the selected categories. Leaving both empty applies the coupon to the whole order.

Coupon statuses

StatusMeaning
ActiveValid within its window and usage limits
InactiveManually disabled
ScheduledStarts in the future
ExpiredPast its expiration date

Use the row menu to activate, deactivate, duplicate, copy the code, or view redemptions. Bulk actions can activate, deactivate, or delete several coupons.

Redemptions

View Redemptions shows the orders and customers that used the coupon. This is the audit trail for usage limits and per-customer limits.

Checkout behavior

  • Customers can apply a coupon in the cart or checkout.
  • Guests can use coupons if the coupon's rules allow it.
  • An invalid, expired, or ineligible coupon shows an error and is not applied.
  • A free-shipping coupon sets the shipping cost to zero.

Permissions

  • Owner and Admin can create, update, and delete coupons.
  • Member cannot manage coupons.
